Vacation Dummy: Chapter 3
Sizzling under the summer sun with a reflector in her hands, Margrette was on cloud 9 in terms of relaxation. Sure, being a product tester for a diaper company was a dream gig for any ABDL but what they didn’t tell you upfront was how much busywork would actually be involved. In the back of her head, she knew that she had a mountain of paperwork to sort through as soon as she got back. However, he effortlessly paid as little attention to those idle work thoughts as possible. After all, it wasn’t every day that the company you work for was willing to fit the bill of an all-expense paid vacation.
“Ugh! Fuck this stupid thing!”
Tragically, one aspect of Margrette’s daily work life had bled over into her vacation. Namely, Tina, who had stuck to her like glue since they’d arrived at the pool, in spite of her best efforts to ditch her at every turn. She’d hoped that some simple suntanning would quiet her down or at least bore her to the point of leaving. Raising her sunglasses toward Tina, she watched dejectedly as the former intern fiddled with her own reflector before chucking it on the ground.
“Seriously, how can you relax while holding that thing? It’s so awkward,” scoffed Tina, refusing to admit that her inability to relax was the product of her own hyperactive mind. Instead, she took to blaming the flimsy reflector as the source of her anxiety, and not the lack of anything loud and exciting to do. Grabbing onto her own feet, she pulled her legs in close to her chest, squishing the soaked swim diaper against her rear.
Wanting to get Tina off her ass for some much-needed R&R, Margrette decided to spin a small fib. “Honestly, you’re probably still a bit too sober to hit peak sunbathing relaxation. Why don’t you head over to the bar and grab another cocktail?” she said, hoping to shake Tina off for enough time to get a solid base tan going.
Tina wouldn’t get the chance to respond, though, as Rocky made her grand re-entrance. “Hey, guys! Look who decided to join us,” she shouted, dragging Mark by the arm as she rushed over to greet her work besties.
Sitting up in her lounge chair, Tina was thrilled to have something to break her boredom, even if it was just to greet Rocky and Mark. “Oh hi, Mark. About time you showed up. Get me a drink, would you? Margrette says I’m not drunk enough,” she said, unaware of the sour expression that her question put on Margrette’s face.
“Get your own damn drink, Tina,” said Mark, brushing off Tina’s brazenness before turning his attention back to his little girl, “I already have plans to deliver this cutie pie to the waterslides, so no, I don’t have time to be your servant.”
Leaping to her feet as the idea of going to waterslides implanted itself in her brain, Tina grabbed Rocky by the hands before diving into her desperate plea. “Take me with you! Please! A waterslide sounds super fun right now.”
“Sure, you can join us. We were looking for two more people to join us on the four-person tube side so we didn’t have to ride with randos,” exclaimed Rocky, her mood already improving with Mark at her side. She couldn’t tell if the single drop of Little Space serum was having any sort of effect on Mark but he did appear to be enjoying himself regardless, “How about you, Margrette? Ready to tackle some slides?”
Attempting to pass her grimace off as a genuine smile, Margrette did her best not to seem too eager at the prospect of passing Tina off on the happy couple. “Oh, I’m enjoying the sun way too much to go anywhere right now. Plus, I don’t wanna get motion sick before Mark and I’s presentation tonight. You three go have fun. I’m sure Charlie would love to join you,” she said, throwing her boyfriend under the bus with no remorse.
“I’m sorry, CHARLIE?!?!” yelled Tina, unaware that Margrette and Charles were on a nickname basis. Unable to contain her excitement to use her boss’s pet name, she sprinted over to the rail that overlooked the pool and shouted down to Charles, who was waiting for a drink at the bar with Ned, “Yo Charlie Brown! Your girlfriend says you’re coming sliding with us!”
It took no time at all for Charles to feel the heat building up in his cheeks. Dropping his casual smile, he looked up at Tina with a vicious scowl. “Call me that again and I’m dumping the Oder lawsuit on you!” he said, causing the cheeky smile on Tina’s face to falter at the thought of doing all the paperwork for a CrissBaby legal case, “Just let me get my drink first. And you can tell Margie that I’ll be sure to change her diapee as soon as we get back.”
“MARGIE?!?! You two are fucking gross!” said Tina, cackling over sickeningly-sweet office romance. Linking arms with both Rocky and Mark, she let out an exaggerated sigh, “Much better.”
Bonking Tina on the head lightly with his unimpeded fist, Mark wanted to comment on the fact that he and Rocky were probably just as “gross” from a relationship standpoint, especially since he called her Pebbles around the office frequently. However, a strange yet strong desire began to build within him as he looked toward the row of water slides in the distance. “Hey, can we go to the slides yet? I wanna get there before the line gets too long,” he said, sounding a tad more impatient than usual, though not enough to draw any attention.
“Oh, yeah, sure. But I thought you wanted to get a drink beforehand. It’s not as if the slides are going any…where,” responded Rocky, only turning to look at Mark’s face at the tail end of her statement. To her surprise, he was looking at her with a strained sadness in his eyes, as if she had just broken the news that Santa Claus would be arriving a day late, “Oooor, we can go right now. Whatever floats your boat, hun.”
On a dime, Mark’s expression shifted from somber to joyful as he nodded his head yes rapidly. “Awesome! We should get going then,” he said, taking Rocky by the hand and beginning his campaign toward the tallest waterslide in the park.
“Ooof! S-Slow down, Mark. Where’s the fire?” said Rocky, her words falling on deaf ears as she struggled to keep up with Mark’s pace. She quickly craned her neck back and called out to Tina, “Text me when you and Charles are heading over!”
--------------------------------------
“Come oooon! How much loooonger?!” said Mark, draping his upper body over the staircase railing dejectedly as he, Rocky, Tina, and Charles found themselves stuck in line behind a plethora of fellow CrissBaby employees. Unfortunately, racing over to the slides ahead of Tina and Charles had done little more than secure them an early spot in line, which didn’t matter too much given the fact that the cue extended nearly three full flights of stairs. Thankfully, they were nearing the front after nearly a half hour in line, not that it subdued Mark’s jumpy behavior much.
Unlike before when Mark’s subtler impatience could be easily passed off as vacation jitters, this level of childish behavior was very unlike Mark, causing Tina to question what had gotten into her level-headed colleague. Leaning over to Rocky, she kept her voice low so as not to attract Mark’s attention, “Hey, is Mark okay? He seems kinda…restless today.”
While the heat provided her ample cover, the sweat that dribbled down Rocky’s forehead was far from temperature-related. There was no doubt in her mind that Mark was being affected by the Little Space serum. That much was evident from his inability to stand still for longer than two seconds at a time. That didn’t mean she could own up to that fact without repercussions, forcing her to constantly cover for Mark’s antics. “It’s…a vacation thing…a-at least that’s what he told me. Once he gets into that fun, vacationer headspace, he just can’t help himself,” she lied, hoping her answer was enough to satisfy Tina’s suspicions.
“Okay…if you say so,” said Tina, who despite her gut telling her something was up, decided not to drag out her line of questioning any further.
Trudging up the steps behind Tina, Mark, and Rocky with the four-person innertube in hand, Charles glared at his coworkers as he caught his breath. “Anyone else wanna take over? I’ve had to lug this thing up four flights already and-“
“Ooh! The line is moving,” shouted Mark, racing up to the top of the staircase as the line shifted forward. This caused Rocky, and subsequently, Tina to chase after him, leaving Charles alone with the massive, yellow and blue tube yet again.
Leaning against the arm rail at the top of the slide tower with her arms crossed and an apathetic expression, the lifeguard on duty waved Mark and his group forward with only her hand, refusing to lift her arm from its resting position, “Next!”
Eagerly stepping into the slide’s loading zone, Mark giggled as he stomped his feet in the ankle-high water, causing multiple large ripples to leak out onto the platform. Rocky was quick to stop him before he made the already annoyed lifeguard upset. “N-No splashing, sweetheart. Save that water for the slide,” she said, using Mark’s ultimate goal to keep him in check.
“You three can’t go down without a tube,” said the lifeguard right as Tina was about to join Rocky and Mark in the loading zone. All three of them turned and pointed toward the staircase as the large, yellow tube slowly emerged from below with Charles struggling to carry the inflatable on his own. He bumped into several other pool-goers and the lifeguard before tossing the tube down at his coworkers’ feet, completely exhausted. “Next time…I ain’t carrying shit,” he said, placing his hand behind his head to catch his breath.
While Rocky and Tina felt somewhat guilty over making Charles do all the heavy lifting on his own, Mark was far too excited to get moving on the slide that he instantly grabbed at the tube and began moving it into the loading zone. “Get in, you guys! It’s our turn,” he said, plopping his butt down in the front-most spot on the tube and patting his hand on the spot next to him for Rocky.
As murmurs from the other pool-goers echoed around in Rocky’s ears, she realized just how strange it must’ve looked for someone hanging out with two diaper-clad girls to be acting like the group Little. Knowing she’d end up with more questions that she didn’t have good answers to, she knew the only way to cover for her bubbly boyfriend was to make herself even more Little. “Yay! I’m ready to go super-fast!” she said with as much enthusiasm as she could muster, her face turning bright red over her forced immaturity. She nestled her padded butt into her designated spot on the tube, gasping as a rush of cool water surrounded her swim diaper, which had been baking in the sun for thirty minutes.
Looking at each other with raised eyebrows, Tina and Charles had practically developed their own unspoken language after working alongside each other for so long. Something was up with Rocky and Mark, that much was obvious. Beyond that, neither had a clue what to make of Mark’s bizarre attitude. Giving each other a brief nod, they decided to play along and not say anything for now until they could better assess the situation. “Alright, slide time baby,” said Tina as she and Charles sat across from Rocky and Mark in the circular innertube.
“Please remain in the tube at all times. Thank you,” said the lifeguard monotonously, kicking the tube with a single foot and sending it toward the mouth of the slide.
Bouncing up and down in his seat, Mark threw his hands into the air just as the slide was about to go over the slope’s edge. “Here we go! WOOOOOOOO!” he screamed at the top of his lungs as the slide zoomed forward at a brisk pace.
“WOOOOOOOOOO!” shouted Rocky, trying to keep up the façade that both she and Mark were too enamored by their vacation to suppress their elation. She attempted to throw both arms in the air as Mark had, only to instinctually grab onto one of the tube’s hand-holds as they approached the slide’s first serpentine. Thankfully, as the slide picked up speed, it became a lot easier to fake her exuberance.
As the smile on her face slowly became more and more genuine, Rocky watched as Mark seemed to be having the time of his life, something that made her unabashedly happy. Why was she being so anxious about this? Mark was definitely not the Big everyone expected him to be but if this was the extent of what the Little Space serum had to offer, maybe she’d made the right choice after all. Wrapping her arms around Mark’s waist and hugging him close, she decided that if Mark was going to be in Little Space, why shouldn’t she?
