Double Diaper Dare: Chapter 12
“Alright, I know you’re in here!” shouted Devin, who was merely one of many security guards working the night shift at the CrissBaby Diaper Factory. Having heard what sounded like a pair of female voices coming from the testing chamber as he passed by, Devin had stepped inside to investigate, only to discover that someone had gotten wet and wild with the filling machine. Prodding Crissie’s oatmeal-drenched diaper with his nightstick, he had all the evidence he needed to do a full sweep of the area, “Last chance to do this the easy way!”
Listening from the other side of the dressing room door, Crissie could practically hear her heartbeat as the guard began his search. Clutching her hair bow with both hands in a frantic need to feel any sort of comfort, she turned to Codi and said, “Shoot, we have to get that key back somehow. Codi, if you turn into a slime you could-”
“Thumbs are sho weiwd, ya know. Humans have such funny gwabbers,” giggled Codi, paying zero attention to anything Crissie was saying in favor of flapping her hands open and closed like a pair of crab pincers as she happily chewed up the last of her lisp lolly.
Facepalming hard, Crissie hated to be the reliable one in tense situations. It was by no means her strongest role. “Silly Putty would be more useful than you are right now,” she said, letting out a long, painful sigh as she stared intensely through the cracked open doorway and began to formulate plan B.
While Crissie was distracted with far more pressing matters, Codi took the opportunity to look around the changing room, intrigued by her new surroundings. Unlike the science fiction dreamscape that was the testing chamber, the changing room was fairly standard. That didn’t matter to Codi, though, who’d never been inside a changing room in her life. Waddling through the area, her eyes glazed over in wonderment.
However, Codi’s feckless excitement soon came to a grinding halt as she encountered the giant mirror that lined a row of sinks. Approaching the mirror, she observed the way her human body moved in, fascinated by her own anatomy. Unlike with the changing room, though, she wasn’t awestruck but enamored. Raising her left hand slowly, she gazed at her reflection’s synchronized movement before letting her fingers graze her cheek, her expression turning slightly sour.
After countless tries, she had managed to mimic human anatomy to perfection but the one thing Codi couldn’t replicate was warmth. As a slime, she was a bloodless creature prone to living in dark, damp places. That didn’t stop her from wishing she could feel heat radiating in her cheek. She forced a smile on her face, trying her best to brush off the negative thoughts only to watch her grin fade moments later. Growing anxious, she willed herself to look away, her current state of mind too childish to handle such a dysphoric topic.
That’s when Codi’s eyes landed on a row of lockers lining the wall opposite the mirror. Most of them had locks on them save for one, which was slightly ajar. Curious, she approached the locker and opened it, discovering a fantastically silly, multi-colored dress. Without hesitation, she stripped off her casual clothing and stepped into the poofy outfit, snickering softly as she pulled the dress upward. The way that the fluffy skirt reacted to even the slightest movement was electrifying. She twirled back and forth, swishing the frilly fabric across her plastic nappy in a symphony of crinkles. There were a few noticeable stains on the outfit which did dampen how pretty it was but the feeling of ruffles brushing past her soft, well-constructed skin was too incredible to care about the imperfections.
With the dress in place, Codi’s attention returned to the locker, discovering several accessories designed to go with her new attire. First was a hot pink wig that was stationed on the top shelf of the locker cubby. She eagerly stretched the wig over the top of her head, giggling at how silly she looked with her black hair still plainly visible. She then spotted what appeared to be a bright red, rubber ball. Holding the tiny sphere in her hand, she gave it a small test squeeze, gasping as it produced a tiny squeak.
Back at the changing room’s entrance, Crissie watched as Devin threw his hands up in frustration. “C’mon, if you come out now, I promise not to take this up with the police,” announced the guard, his voice echoing throughout the entire testing facility. Moments later, a call came through on his radio, causing him to bring it to his ear, “Right now? I’m kinda in the middle of…yes, sir. I’ll be right there. Over.” Lowering his radio, he took one last look around, listening closely for any abnormal sounds. Sighing heavily, he began to make his way toward the set of double doors he entered through, deciding to lock in whoever snuck inside until he could return.
“Perfect, he’s leaving. This is our chance,” whispered Crissie, unaware that Codi had wandered off, “Codi? Oh, for the love of…” Calming herself down, she knew there wasn’t enough time to lose her temper. She needed to grab Codi and get out of this place while they had the chance. Rushing to the main area of the changing room, her eyes went wide as she bore witness to clown baby Codi.
Waving with the same hand that was holding the red clown nose, Codi’s youthful smile returned as her mind instantly assumed Crissie had joined her to play. “Hey, Cwissie, wook wuh I found?” she said, doing nothing to dampen the volume of her voice as she squeezed the red ball and produced a single, loud squeak.
“Codi no!” said Crissie in a half-whisper, half-shout, hoping to stop Codi before she alerted the guard. Sadly, her words came too late as the ear-piercing squeak reverberated throughout the changing room.
“Aha! Mike, get your ass up here. The pizza can wait. I’ve got an intruder cornered in the changing room. Over.”
Hearing the security guard’s voice, Crissie began to panic. She’d written this room in her stories many times and knew that there was only one way in and one way out. “Master’s gonna be so mad at me,” she said, clutching the skirt of her dress as she frantically looked around the changing room for a place to hide. Unfortunately, the lockers were too thin and the stalls would be the first place the guard would look. Resigning herself to her fate, she slid down against the wall and buried her face between her knees, wincing as her bare, oatmeal-covered butt touched down on the cool, tile floor, “That’s it. We’re stuck here. There’s nowhere else to go.”
Watching Crissie’s panic attack in real time, Codi’s once playful demeanor evaporated. Puffing out her lower lip, she chucked the red nose, blaming it and not herself for alerting the guard. “Why’d chu hafta make dat noise, huh?” she said, listening to Devin’s footsteps as he slowly approached the door…door…that’s it!
Searching for a dark, isolated place on the wall, Codi quickly ducked down under the sinks and placed her hand against the wall. Her eyes glowed, taking on a neon purple hue as she used her wormhole powers to effortlessly create a new doorway back to her hidden room. Throwing open the small, square door and crawling inside, she called out to Crissie, bouncing on her knees as she waved her over, “Cwissie, c’mon! I gotsa way out!”
Lifting her head, Crissie’s eyes widened as she spotted a tiny doorway similar to the one she’d gone through so many months ago when she first met Codi. She had a ton of questions but now wasn’t the time to ask. Scrambling to her feet, she ducked down under the sink, crawled through the knee-high entryway, and slammed the door shut behind her.
Lying on her back, Crissie let out an exasperated breath as her heart rate began to lower. “Good thinking, Codi,” she said, happy to have escaped punishment, at least for now. Her teleport key was still in the testing chamber, after all, and until she had that back in her possession, she was far from in the clear.
“What…the fuck am I wearing?” said Codi, the effects of both the gum and the lisp lolly failing to hold up now that she’d passed between dimensions, “And when did I make a wormhole? Crissie, what did you do?!”
Sitting up, Crissie shook her head. “I didn’t do anything. You dressed up like that all on your own,” she said as she folded her arms, “You also made the wormhole all on your own. A wormhole, mind you, that you told me you no longer had the power to make.”
The tunnel fell silent as Codi was put on the hot seat. After Master closed up the wormhole between Crissie’s pocket-dimension nursery and Codi’s hidden room, she found that she was rendered powerless while within said nursery, leading her to tell Crissie that her powers had been completely taken away. Sighing, she rested her back along the cloth-sided tunnel, realizing she couldn’t lie her way out of this. “When I told you a lot my wormhole powers had been deactivated in Master’s timeline, I may not have been…entirely truthful. I wasn’t lying when I said that I can’t create a new wormhole within your nursery…but when you let me borrow your portal key to Earth for the first time…I discovered that powers worked just fine down here.”
“But…why didn’t you go back then? I mean, you’re always saying stuff like you’d leave if you could,” said Crissie, unable to look Codi in the eye. She sniffled, fighting to keep herself from crying as she recalled Codi’s words from earlier that day, “You said it yourself, we’re roommates at best. There’s nothing really tying you to this dimension, so why didn’t you leave?”
Folding her hands and placing them to her chin, Codi wasn't sure she was ready to answer that question. She may not have had a literal heart but that didn’t stop her chest from tightening up, creating a frog in her throat as she tried to speak, “Because…I-I don’t…Goddess, you’re so annoying!”
“What?!” shouted Crissie, taken aback by Codi’s dramatic conversation shift.
“You snore!” yelled Codi in response, “A-And you smack your lips when you chew! You’re always bothering me when I’m busy! Oh, and let’s not forget about the fact that you smell like a barn animal 24/7! I don’t think I’ve ever seen you in a clean diaper for longer than twenty minutes!” Hitting her boiling point, she placed her face in her hands and let out a long, agonizing scream.
Backing away from Codi, Crissie did her best to process everything that her disgruntled roommate was saying. She crossed her arms around her torso and hugged herself as a strong sense of guilt began to overtake her. “I…know I’m not the easiest person to live with. I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to-”
“No! Shut up!” said Codi, bringing a sudden halt to Crissie’s sorrowful apology, “I don’t want you to say sorry. I want you to tell me why?”
Confused, Crissie asked, “Why what?”
Inhaling deeply through her nose, Codi squinted her eyes shut and blurted out her answer, “Why am I obsessed with you?”
